Now there are many methods to get one way links. You can find new methods yourself just by exploring the Internet. Check out any website that allows you in some way or another to add your link without having to link back.
Not very common methods include submitting your website to awards sites. These are sites that accept website submissions, then they award the website with the best web design, the best content and so on. Then give the winner a badge, a star or something like that. But they also link to that website from their awards page.
With a bit of research you can find many other methods.
The method I enjoy is forum submission. First of all you are not just submitting the same website information like you do with directory submission. You are replying to a forum post, a discussion, so it is interesting.
You can find forums related to your website, and you are getting one way links while chatting more or less. Here is the proper way to do it.
First of all you join a forum. They send you confirmation email, so you have to check your email and visit the link in that email. It is easy. Next login, and find the profile page, usually called profile, settings, control panel or something like that. You do not need to fill in all the information, but just the signature box. In that box, enter maximum one domain.
I do not suggest you put more than one domain, or else you may look like a spammer.
Always include a keyword in the anchor text. So you create a text link, the keyword that links to your domain name. You cannot input html code in this box, but special code. Next to this box, there is information on how to add a link, it is called BBC code sometimes.
Basically you click that and follow instructions, there is how to make bold, italics, underline and many other fonts and styles. However you are only interested on how to make a link.
Then click submit to save your profile, find a post you can reply to and make your reply.
Make sure the signature appears under your post. This appears automatically. While posting you should see a link to Advanced Options somewhere. You can click that and see other options, one allows you to add signature to your post.
You can also go to your profile again and edit settings there, but usually this is not required, since by default most forums automatically add your signature to posts.
You just got a one way links from this forum. This is more powerful than a link from a directory. That does not mean you ignore directory submissions. Treat it as another method you can use, when you wish, but forum submissions is much better, so you can simple do only that.
A link from a forum, is better because it is in between content. Links inside an article or any content is better than a link from a page with no content at all.
Once you have replied to a post, it is time to join another forum. You want backlinks from unique websites, it is more powerful. However bookmark the forums, because within a month or two you need to repost a message, and always make a decent and useful post.
Not a one line post. Pick a post where a member posted a question, and if you can reply to that and help him. So you are not just posting for a link, helping not spamming.
You need to repost, or else administrator of forums simple thinks you are spamming, if you only posted once in two months.
So remember you want one way links to improve search engine rankings, so make sure you implement one of the several methods, forum submission is one of them. Do it regularly and daily, get the same number of links everyday approximately, so it all looks natural to the search engines.

How Link Exchange Partners Cheat You
It is not just you, these things happen to everyone. Worrying only leads to more problems.
You need to relax, it is a great method to get ideas, inspirations and solutions. The other thing is that making link exchanges is not an easy task, but time consuming if you do not invest some money in some software.
The other important thing is to take things more easy. What that means is you should not complain or waste a lot of time discussing why this or why that. Time is precious. These are common things that every webmasters faces. Once you know this you should feel a bit better.
The nofollow tag.
Some webmasters use the nofollow tag either on your link, or on their links page. You need to make sure that spiders can reach the page your link is on. Sometimes webmasters put the nofollow tag on the link pointing to their linkspage, which is located on the homepage. There are plugins that highlight links that are using nofollow tags or find out some other tools if you do not wish to check this manually.
The robots file.
Robots files are used sometimes instead of the nofollow tags to block spiders from indexing the linkspage. You need to check this file, which is called robots.txt and located in the root of the website. Make sure spiders are allowed to visit the linkspage.
The meta tag.
You need to check the meta tags of the homepage and also the meta tags of the page your link is on. In both tags, you need to make sure they are not blocking the spiders in some way or another. The attributes that you need to look for are all, index, follow. That means spiders should follow all links and index them all.
They remove your link.
If your link partner removes your link from their website, rest assured not all of your partners will notify you. As long as they are not using some script that does it automatically you will have to check this out for yourself. There are scripts and software to do this easily. So keep record somewhere always of the location your partner placed your link so you check every one or two months.
This happens for several reasons. Sometimes webmasters do it because they cannot find a link back and most common reason is because you moved their link. So like my first suggestion never waste time complaining and moaning about this. Simple email them and let them know you are going to remove their link because you cannot find yours. Give them an option to re submit their link.
For example, tell them you can reply to this email if you are still interested in a link exchange. Then if after a couple of days they do not reply, send them another email and then after another couple of days remove their link if they do not reply.
They are not linking to the linkspage from anywhere.
That is another problem. Usually if they are not linking to their linkspage from their homepage you can easily tell. The linkspage will have no menus, just a blank page with links. Most webmasters who do this simple do not know they have to link to their linkspage from their homepage. They are new to seo.
So check if they are linking to it from the homepage only if the linkspage has absolutely nothing but links. To make sure then google the page and see if it is in the index, if it is then obviously it is linked from somewhere.
Keep those in mind when you are doing link exchanges, find some plugins or software to help you do things faster. But always treat your link partners they way you want them to treat you. Remember they are helping you improve search engine rankings.

The Most Deadly Link Building Myths
Here are some myths that many webmasters faithfully follow. Test results show proof that these are no correct theories. They may be understood incorrectly or invented by wanna be gurus seeking attention. So let us start with the number.
Link exchanges are dead myth.
This practically means that you loose thousands of backlinks if you deny link exchanges.
There are certain guidelines to follow when doing link exchanges however they are great link building method. They are highly effective as well, you cannot say link exchanges are no longer that effective. They still are as much as they were. That was going to become some new theory as well. By effective one understand they are very easy to get and search engines consider them powerful.
What is dead for sure are blog comment posting probably, since almost all blogs are now using nofollow tags. The two most effective methods to get links are article submission and link exchanges. Obviously article exchanges are much better than link exchanges, but they are not effective, since it is too difficult to make at least one article exchange. So you cannot say they are more effective or more powerful. The reality is they are not.
(Many believe that link exchanges is a surefire way to improve search engine rankings)
Make link exchanges with only related or relevant sites myth.
This is big one, because even some popuplar people mention it, so webmasters believe into it more quickly. However luckily not everyone believes this theory. Again, results show that you can get links from any website. The more links you have the better.
It can be good idea to create a highly focused link directory first, but then you can expand. However if you are very familiar with link exchanges, and you can get many of them very quickly, you can get from any theme instantly.
Make link exchanges with websites that have a specific pagerank myth.
It means one thing, you loose a ton of links, denying certain websites. It does not matter if the site has pagerank zero or ten, it is still an important link to get. This will only affect your rankings in a positive way by exchanging links with all websites.
Ok, some have pagerank zero and you did all that work and have a pagerank of four. So what? Do you no longer want backlinks because you have a higher pagerank? Everyone needs backlinks, no matter your pagerank.
Article submission myth.
There are many things wrong, including the duplicate content theory. It strictly does not exist, webmasters simple understand it wrong. Submitting the same article to all article directories and everywhere is a great thing, you get all those one way links.
Spinning titles, descriptions and so forth is not required. No article, webpage or website will get banned by doing this.
However if you grab an article from some directory to put it on your website, it is a good thing to do if you link to the source. Not only because you should give credit to the author, but spiders appreciate it.
What you need to make unique is meta tags. I am not saying you can have exactly similar webpages on your website. That is not a good thing to do, obviously.
Making sure you do not fall victim to invented theories or incorrect ones is important. A new theory is created out of nowhere every now and then. This is happening all the time and these spread like a virus. People seems to love talking about what works and what does not.
However what is important is to stick with what works and avoid believing into new things as if they are some strict rules.

How To Make Link Exchanges Like An Expert
First of all you want to make it as easy as possible for webmasters to exchange links with your website.
Give the what they expect. The expect a decent links page. Some prefer that you have a maximum of thirty five or forty links per page. So putting thirty five links per page is acceptable. You need to have categories and sub categories, so when webmasters visit your website they know you already have a place where you can put their link.
Link to your links page from your homepage. Follow those guidelines or else many webmasters will simple not request a link exchange or disapprove your link if you request one. So ask yourself the question, are you loosing link exchange partners everyday?
Most webmasters do not like to open up their email and send you a link exchange requests, for several reasons. An email address attracts spam no link exchange requests, even though you should place one it is not enough. So put a link exchange submission form, and link to it from every page of your link directory, so wherever they are on your directory they can easily add their website.
You need to notify your link exchange partners with the location where you placed your link.
Let us say you emailed a webmasters and he added your link to your website. You then asked for his link details and added his website. It is not yet finished, you need to reply again and tell him the location you placed your link.
Do not forget, it is the most important message. Webmasters are all busy, and they do not receive only your email. So they might forget they did a link exchange, and then when they check days later, simple delete your link. Rest assured most will not visit your website and try to look for their link. You need to treat them in the best possible ways.
Are you saving your email contacts?
If in the past month you received a hundred link exchange requests by email. Did you simple delete those messages once the link exchange was completed? I hope not, because if you create a new website, you just lost a potential hundred link exchanges. Store those email address, in some way or another.
Are you using some automated tool?
Most webmasters waste time, which could have been used better. They still use ftp software to add link partners. When you have enough money to invest, there are many tools that allow you to add link partners in five seconds, from your web browser itself. You do not even need a software.
Are you saving the location the link partners placed your link?
Remember that you need to check every two months approximately, and make sure all your link exchange partners are still linking back. If they are not it is no longer a link exchange, so you can delete their link from your links page.
Keep record of this important information always. Once again there are tools that do this easily for you as well. Look for that tool that provides many tools in one, including the most important features like adding links, categories, subcategories and saving link exchange partners location.
Making these simple tweaks will greatly increase the number of link exchange requests you receive. Treat your link partners like you want them to treat you. Never reject a link exchange as long as there is a solid reason behind it.

Not Very Common SEO Mistakes Exposed!
To succeed in search engine optimization you must do the right things, but do them right as well. So let us start with not so common mistake number one.
Bad Linking.
Not linking to your linkspage using a text link. Many webmasters link to their linkspage, resources page or whatever you want to call it within a drop down menu, or using an image that links to the page.
Spiders cannot read through images and will not use the drop down menu to see what links it has. They read html source code, so those links will be ignored. Means also they will not get indexed.
Creating several folders and webpages.
That is another mistake and it is confusing both for your visitors and search engines. Probably even for you. Create one folder called articles and put in all article pages, create one folder called images and put in all images inside. Everything organized is the key.
Internal linking mistakes.
You have to decide, and I give you the best option. Either you are going to link to your website pages using the www or never using it at all. The best option is to use the www so never use the other option.
Spiders treat them as two different domains, and you do not want that to happen ever. So even when getting backlinks make sure you use always the same prefix. Google sitemaps, which are tools for webmasters doing seo, has a feature regarding this thing. Use it.
Fixing problems.
The mistake results in waste of time. You read several forums, articles every day and you go fixing your mistakes. It is wrong, you cannot go fix every article you submitted to make the anchor text in the link something new.
Whatever you learn, you apply the next time. You cannot waste so much time. Assuming you are not doing something that can cause your website to get banned this applies to you. So please fix of course, if you are doing keyword stuffing or other really bad things.
Blak Hat.
If you never heard that term, you are lucky. Almost all new webmasters who want to start seo fall in this trap. Black hat are strategies, tactics, software and so forth that try to cheat the search engines, in order to get top rankings. You cannot do that. Bad things can happen if you try it. Not only you can waste time trying but also money. Black hat software are very expensive.
The salespage can be full of hype of course since the promise is great. It attracts lots of visitors. Do not fall victim to blak hat seo.
Creating an introduction for your website that you have to click on skip to proceed or wait some 5 minutes.
Ok, you like it probably, but search engines do not like to see a flash or video presentation of your website. First of all they cannot see what you see, because they only look at your html code. Spiders simple see nothing. So basically you have a problem, and to solve it you have to remove the presentation completely. They want your content, your images and your text links on your homepage.
Too many code.
If your website requires users to install plug ins, try to avoid that. If you have too many visitors counters, too many javascripts code, popups, popunders and other code on your website avoid it. Spiders want content, not code. Code confuses them. Use minimum required only.
If you notice, what converts your visitors into customers is also appreciated by search engine spiders. What your visitors hate even spiders hate. Your customers are the search engine customers as well. What you do to please spiders you are doing to please your visitors. In other words spiders are helping you create a website that your visitors will enjoy, because they will benefit from that.
So next time, think about these things, apply some of these and you start moving forward in the right direction.

Useful Marketing Tools For The Beginner!
Let me start:
1) Keyword tracking Hits Tail - http://www.hittail.com
This is not to track traffic. If you wish to know which keywords are giving you the most traffic this is for you. Why you need this tool?
If you know a certain keyword is getting you the most amount of traffic, then optimize your website for that keyword. If it is #10 in Google, then get it #1.
That's why you need this tool, it's very advanced, with charts, lists and detailed information. Do not rely on your webhosting stats, they are not very accurate for things I shall not go into detail here.
There are no stat counters displayed on your site!
But remember, if you don't need to know this info, don't use this tool. Search engines prefer not to see too many code (javascripts etc) in your website.
2) Pinging your blogs, feed or podcasts.
The one tool that in my opinion is better than pingomatic nowadays. You just select the many pinging servers and hit submit.
http://feedshark.brainbliss.com
http://pingoat.com
Use both of them, and ping only after posting something new on your blog.
3) Fresh New Content (Search engine friendly)
This is a great and free tool that allows you to add fresh new content. Don't use javascript option because it is useless because search engines don't read javascripts. So they can't see the content that is displayed.
So use the php version on a site or page that ends in.php
http://rssfeedreader.com
If your site is not in php, this is not for you. Do not create some pages with .php and others with .html or .asp Choose ONE!
4) Link Exchange Manager
This is a great script that will allow you total control on your link partners. I use this script on my sites and I can say the administration area is awesome.
You create sort of directory for your links page, and visitors can easily submit their link using an online form. You have total control of links submitted and anything else you dream of.
http://www.autolinkspro.com
See my link submission forms and links page and submit your websites:
http://www.outranksmart.com/links/resources.html
5) Allow your blog visitors to social bookmark your blog posts. This is a cool tool: http://www.toprankblog.com/tools/social-bookmarks
A link back to the site is required to use the tool.
6) SEO Tools
This site offers free tools you use them online, such as checking the amount of backlinks, the page rank, and your ranking positions. I did mention those because they are the basic, there are many more. They have a tool I never seen before. You input a website URL, the website loads in browser and you will be able to see the pagerank of each of the links on that website.
http://www.linkvendor.com
7) Keyword Search
Overture tool was one very popular and useful tool, but they are closing it down. The new wordtracking free tool is very similar:
http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
Search number displayed refers to the number of searches per day.
8) Banned by Adsense?
Now you can use also Kontera. There are other similar to adsense but for content related websites, blogs and maybe forums this works great.
Free to signup, they manually approve your websites.
http://www.Kontera.com
9) Link Exchange Membership Sites
I am only recommending the services I personally used that did provide results. Results also mean quality link partners.
I describe the method I used in each one of them. I am a free member in each one.
10) Free Link Center.
http://freelinkcentral.com
After signup I login, then go to the category that is related to my niche. Then page by page I request a link exchange from each website. There is no need to place your link first. That is why I use it. I just request a link from each site.
I did receive replies to my request.
11) Link Diary
http://www.linkdiary.com
I just joined free. Then whenever someone links my site he requests a link exchange. I get notified via email.
I don't ask for link exchanges if I need to first place the link on my site. That does not seem fair to me, because when I tried it at LinkMetro.com few rarely replied. Time and energy wasted.
12) Link Metro
http://www.linkmetro.com
I use link metro to do article exchanges. I contact the webmasters via PM to ask them if they are interested. I don't place their articles on my site, but first ask them via PM.
Again I just reply to request webmasters make for a link exchange, not request links because many do not reply or link back.
13) Link2me
http://www.link2me.com
Same like all the rest. It is very easy to setup accounts in these sites. Even if I receive few link request, they still keep coming every day, week, month just for signing up one time.
And if you are asking yourself, whom I trade links with... my answer is EVERYONE. Any category, any pr, as long as they are not casino, gambling or porn related websites.
14) Simple Linking
http://www.simplylinking.com
At simple linking you don't need to place their link before requesting one. That is why I participate and request link exchanges. Free members like me can only request up to 20 links a day.
15) Link Exchanged
http://www.linkexchanged.com
You cannot request link exchanges if you are a free member. I always suggest you remain free because these sort of link exchange memberships I mention have many inactive members.
16) Label Your Website
This is very good for your the eyes of your visitors. You simple place some code and a button and when people click on it they find information such as:

At simple linking you don't need to place their link before requesting one. That is why I participate and request link exchanges. Free members like me can only request up to 20 links a day.

The Truth About Link Exchanges!
I believe Link Exchanges still provide quality and useful backlinks that search engine love. There is no right or wrong way to make link exchanges, but you must follow certain guidelines which I shall explain below.
In my experience I have seen big improvements in search engines rankings after getting reciprocal links from related websites.
Link exchange guidelines:
Get reciprocal links only from sites that are related to your own at first. Best thing to do is create a directory with categories and subcategories. Like ebay although you won't need to have hundreds of subcategories. Once you build a strong link exchange directory with related sites start getting links from any type of site.
This only applies if your website is brand new but also if you get links slowly. If you are experienced, and know how to get many link exchanges fast, then there is no need to create a highly focused directory before getting links from any category.
A link is important, so important that it does not need to be on a page with 40 other links to be considered important. All links are required, so accept a link even if there are a hundred other links on the same page.
The only time I reject a link is when a webmaster creates a page on his site, totally blank, and he does not link to it from anywhere. So it cannot get indexed any time. They just upload the page on the server and that's it.
Installing one of the free plugins that display links that are using nofollow tags is also important. So make sure your links won't be using nofollow tags.
Pay attention to three way link exchanges from certain type of sites. If you link to site A, and the webmaster then links to you from a directory (not a site) that is no good. At least get a link from a website.
4 Do not link exchange with directories. They have no content and most of them have categories that relate to everything you can imagine. All links are important, but still I ignore directories, I submit my website to many directories but not to those that require a link back.
Making link exchanges with sites hosted on free webservers is not bad, however these websites usually do not last long, the webmaster may buy a domain and all links get lost. But it is still a link, so get it if you can.
6. Check their links pages, and if they have too many characters in the URL pay attention. If it is too long search engines cannot index that page and a link on the page is useless.
However check to see if some of the pages got indexed, if at least one got indexed then even the rest can get indexed.
Those are basic rules.
If you have a blog do blog link exchange, you place their blog on the sidebar and vice versa. They might also accept an article exchange which is even better.
I check to see if my link partners are still linking back once a month, assuming you don't have some directory that does the work for you. Before I delete any links I send the webmaster an email or use their contact form. Sometimes they just move the site to a better location not always remove link. So good thing to check before deleting link partners.
Getting too many link exchanges at once is also not recommended. That looks very spammy and even worse if they all have same anchor text. So for a whole month you did nothing than all of a sudden you have 100 new links in one day.
Done slowly and every day, say 30 links a day that is absolutely great. Whatever the amount it must be the same every day approximately. I can tell from my results. It is also good news because you work less. Now OutRankSmart brand new seo software, allows you to get more than just 30 a day. 200 or more a day is realistic with outranksmart and the 'work' is clicking mouse.
Hope that all this information helps. Even though the keywords you select are very competitive you still are able to get good results if you focus on getting links.
